Abstract

The adoption of electric vehicles is a strategic approach for mitigating carbon emissions in urban areas. However, electric vehicle adoption in Indonesia, including in Denpasar City, remains limited despite relatively high environmental awareness, indicating a knowledge–action gap. This research aims to examine the effect of environmental knowledge on green purchase intention with the mediating role of green attitude and green trust in electric vehicle adoption intention in Denpasar. This research uses a quantitative method involving 250 respondents who reside in Denpasar, are aged 17 years or older, and are aware of or interested in electric vehicles. The findings reveal that environmental knowledge positively and significantly influences green attitude, green trust, and green purchase intention. Furthermore, green attitude and green trust partially mediate the relationship between environmental knowledge and green purchase intention. These results confirm that ecological knowledge not only shapes positive attitudes and trust toward green products but also strengthens consumers’ intentions to adopt electric vehicles. This study contributes to green consumer behavior literature by reinforcing an extended TPB model integrating attitude and trust in the context of electric vehicle adoption in urban settings.
